19. ROTHENBURG - EUROPE TRIP APRIL 2015

THE REAL MID EVIL TIMES
HARD TO IMAGINE ALL THE TORTURE THAT TOOK PLACE BACK THEN

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HANG OUT IN THIS PLACE?

ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT THESE TWISTED PUNISHMENTS IS
OWE! OWE! OWE!

THIS WOULD BE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE

 THE RACK
you are stretched till you break apart, and then they are still not done with you

 THUMB SCREWS
they also showed arm and leg screws
CHAINED TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD NOT MOVE
 THE HOIST
your hands are tied behind your back then you are hoisted up,
with a heavy stone as a weight hanging from your feet.

A RAY OF LIGHT COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE CHAMBER,
BUT THEIR WOULD NEVER BE A RAY OF LIGHT OR HOPE
FOR THE ACCUSED IN HERE

ROTHENBURG AS SEEN IN MID EVIL TIMES
THE MARKET SQUARE WAS WERE THE ACCUSED, BUT
MORE INNOCENT WERE PUT ON DISPLAY

quarrelsome women who can not get along
  MASKS OF SHAME
maybe this person got too nosy with his neighbors

SHAME MASK FOR MEN
The big nose symbolized sticking the person's nose in other people's business.
The horns showed that the wife was cheating on him.
The snake and devil showed the person had very bad thoughts.

This shame mask is in the shape of a so called "Wild Man?, on the inside are five iron spikes,
which were for extreme torture.  the mask was worn by men who lead a "wild way of life".

THESE ARE ONLY BUT A PART OF THE ITEMS JOHN AND I SAW IN
THIS MUSEUM.  THIS MUSEUM WERE MANY OF THESE CRUEL
AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENTS TOOK PLACE.
MAKES ME VERY GRATEFUL THAT I LIVE IN THIS DAY AND AGE.
