I didn't know at the time that my brother Paul traveled these roads, but now I can look back on these pictures and know that I traveled on the same roads that he did We stopped to visit the Coba ruins
Jay and Natalie warned us that there was a lot of walking involved with these ruins, everyone we saw were renting bikes or being biked in. We didn't think the walking would be that bad, but I wore the wrong shoes and I had blisters on my feet by the time we reached the temple sight. Needless to say, we had to ride back. Before my problem with the blisters we wanted to climb to the top of the temple, but when we arrived and realized how steep and the amount of stairs we decided against it.
We decided instead to have a photo shoot a few stairs up and call it a wrapDoesn't he look like a movie star!

Another awesome ball park, check out the ring where the ball went through
A sculptured stone with a story
This is what that sculpture would have looked like
A smaller temple, we seen this on our way out of the area, our driver stopped to let me take a picture
TULUM
We spent Tuesday afternoon at Tulum. John and I visited these ruins when we took a cruise with Jay and Natalie last year. We had a great guide the first time around, but decided we wanted an LDS guide this time. There he was, Nefi (Nephi), he gave us another perspective of the ruins and we enjoyed his input.
The temple is in the background, this is where they performed their human sacrifices
These ruins have been well preserved, they see a lot of tourists because of the cruse lines
This is part of the temple where during the solstice the sun would shine through the opening, to the villagers, it would look like the kings, or priest were all powerful
A different look at the temple and next to it the building to the left with the window there is a tree in the way of the opening so it is hard to see how the sun would stream through
On Nefi's sleeve he had a picture of one of the Gods the Mayan's worshiped, He talked about the Feahtered Serpent(we believe was Christ)
The wind was blowing hard that day, check out the trees and the hair do
We couldn't go down onto the beach like we did the first time. It was mating season for the turtles. The beach has beautiful white sand and with the tourqoise ocean it mad a spectacular backdrop for the ruins.
The ruin in the background has been photographed many times, you will see it in a lot of magazines
OUR LAST DAY FULL DAY IN MEXICO
We ventured to the beach only to see waves crashing in, (too dangerous to be out in) so we decided to go to our favorite place, the lazy lagoon called Yal-Ku
This is were we went snorkeling with the Rudel's when we first got to town. We loved this area, the paths and walkways to the lagoon were so enchanting
I forgot to take pictures of the many statues at the lagoon, check out the one sunbathing near the waters edge
John is snorkeling out by the island
The fish were not afraid to swim around us. I only got a picture of the stripped ones by John, but their were a variety of them and so colorful! We saw bright blue, deep red, vibrant yellow, radient orange and even multicolored tropical fish
