OLD TOWN SACRAMENTO

SATURDAY, MARCH 5th
When we arrived in Sacramento on Friday we headed for Fairfield where we stayed at Travis Air Force Base. On Saturday we stopped in Vacaville (between Fairfield and Sacramento) to get breakfast. We saw this popular hang out and decided to give it a try. It was great food years ago and still great food today.

Old Sacramento

We bought some candy that we had when we were younger

Pony Express started right here
This statue commemorates the glory of the Pony Express, which started there at 2:45 a.m. on April 4, 1860. The first rider was Sam Hamilton, the route started here in California, then to Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. It was in existence for 18 months. 121 riders, 500 ponies and 35,000 pieces of mail

Cool Stair case in the back of one of the old buildings
Inside the Wells Fargo Bank where they telegraphed

One of the original stage coaches (inside the Wells Fargo Building)

Old buildings were packed with tourist items such as T-shirts, jewelry, candy, ice cream etc.

It was fun going through the old buildings

TAKING THE TRAIN TO SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

AMTRAK TO GO
MARCH 3rd & 4th
John has wanted to take a train ride for a long time so we decided to take a few days and go over Donner's pass in the winter. We heard that it was a beautiful ride, and we were not disappointed. This gentleman who is a volunteer gave us some interesting facts about the water sheds, the train sheds and Donner's pass.

FEBRUARY 25th......SYDNEYS PARTY

PIZZA/POOL PARTY
The first half of Sydney's Birthday party was at her home where they had pizza, cupcakes, ice cream and presents. The second half was the pool party, indoors of course as it was snowing outside in good ole' Utah.

Natalie stayed with the girls while Jay joined the boys
Shannon, John and I just enjoyed watching the kids play in the pool. Shannon looks so great for only having one more night before the big arrival of our little guy.
The favorite thing for the kids was going down the slide, Jay is one of the those kids
(see him in the background) SYDNEY'S POOL PARTY WAS A BIG SPLASH!
